The new EPLAN Platform 2027 will be available in autumn of this year and you can already become acquainted with the software and new features before its release. Your feedback is important to us and your responses and suggestions will be incorporated into finalising the EPLAN Platform 2027.

EPLAN Platform 2027: Clearer structure, more power, added benefits

The upcoming EPLAN Platform continues the path that we set with the current 2026 version: we’re simplifying our portfolio and consistently aligning it to your workflows. EPLAN Preplanning, EPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN Pro Panel – our three top products – will continue to be available in various expansions and will include more functionality.

Instead of additional licences for applications, which used to be necessary for certain tasks in previous updates, these are now directly integrated into your product package: Fluid Power Engineering in EPLAN Electric P8 or “single line” in Preplanning as examples. This means you will be starting with all the relevant functionality immediately.

New version – new software highlights

Numerous new functions and improvements being added to the software are designed to make it more efficient and user-friendly: for example, to better support wiring and wire-connection handling during project planning and assembly, or to meet the wide range of industry-specific requirements in preplanning.

Version 2027 will also be offering an improved device management system, whereby the performance and clarity of device-specific information is getting a major boost, amongst other things. Users will have a much clearer overview of their devices – both within a project as well as in the device database itself – when making changes to components, for instance, or with comparing and filtering differences between device types.

The expanded graphic editor optimises workflows and the user experience, further boosting productivity every step along the way.

Fast connections with automated wiring and wire-connection handling

Sometimes a wire isn’t just a wire in engineering, and not every wire end sleeve fits the end of every wire. This is yet another reason to automate wire-connection handling to save valuable time – not just during the project planning phase, but also in the subsequent wire assembly process.

The new EPLAN Version 2027 provides useful support in this area: wire end sleeves can be assigned according to the specific class of wire and clearly documented for automated or manual wire assembly. Where a great deal of work by hand was previously required, the new assignment possibilities for wires and end sleeves increase the automation and efficiency in device management.

Higher-performance preplanning for all industry-specific requirements

Before getting to the detail engineering, preplanning plays an important role in many fields – particularly in sectors such as energy, building technology and the process industry. EPLAN Preplanning 2027 is coming with a wide range of improvements that enable faster and easier preplanning and support nearly all industry-specific requirements.

Macro variants for P&ID, for instance, will be able to easily be swapped using a right mouse click. The software will also be offering a new dialogue box for managing P&ID-specific planning objects and, for the macro swap, automatically asks what status the replaced measurement points should be assigned.

The new version will naturally further increase the level of automation in the design process, thus enhancing the user experience. One of the things this includes is the automatic alignment of symbols along the path of auto-connect lines – horizontal or vertical – as well as the automatic display of flow directions with arrows. Moving forward, there will also be no need to manually place symbols at pipe intersections because the software automatically displays the intersection in accordance to norms and standards.

Cross-references can now also be assigned separately for each discipline – electric, pneumatic and P&ID – during the planning process.

More powerful device management

Which motor has which power rating to match my design? With the new dialogue box in the device management of EPLAN Electric P8, you can quickly compare the differences between two or more devices to find the right one. Synchronising identical devices that contain different information in a project and the device database will also become child’s play: a new dialogue box ensures your data remains clearly organised.

Speaking of speed, information about linked devices is immediately available in the new version of the software: associated components can be displayed directly below one another and linked to the device management tree. Has a device been discontinued and is no longer available? Starting in Version 2027, to ensure that replacing these devices runs smoothly in EPLAN Electric P8 during the project planning phase, users can view the update in the BOM navigator and click directly to the replacement device.

Erweiterter grafischer Editor für mehr Organisation und Übersicht

Arbeiten Sie bei der Schaltplanerstellung mit Tags? Dann werden Sie viel Freude mit der kommenden Version haben. Im Einfügezentrum von EPLAN Electric P8 wird zukünftig eine intuitive Tag-Verwaltung zur Verfügung stehen, die weit über das bis dato gewohnte Anlegen und Auswählen von Tags hinausgeht. Mit dem neuen Dialog haben Sie jederzeit volle Übersicht über Ihre Tags und können diese einfach organisieren. Welche Tags werden bereits wo und wie oft verwendet? Und welche Objekte sind damit verbunden? Die neuen Verwaltungsoptionen bieten maximale Transparenz über Ihre neuen und bereits verwendeten Tags sowie jede Menge Handlungsspielraum: Tags anlegen, zuweisen, löschen, umbenennen, gruppieren, exportieren, importieren – alles ist an einem Ort und ohne langes Suchen möglich.

Was genau gehört zum Bauteil oder Makro? In der neuen Version profitieren Sie auch im Einfügezentrum von mehr Informationen und Übersicht über Ihre Artikel. Die Vorschau zeigt bzw. visualisiert zusätzlich zum ausgewählten Bauteil nun auch sämtliche dazugehörenden Artikelbestandteile und Funktionsschablonen – zum Beispiel alle Kontakte am Motorschutzschalter. So „surfen“ Sie durch Ihre Artikel und erkennen auf den ersten Blick, was dahintersteckt.
